We noticed Biblicalcalendar.org suddenly went offline. Therefore we’re sending along this year’s Passover season calendar.
We observe it in the same manner as Polycarp and Polycrates as head bishops of Ephesus in the Celtic tradition (carried to the church of Gaul as well). They were highlighted as excommunicated for their keeping the Passover it in the Hebrew way. St Chrysostom mentioned much of the church was still keeping in the Hebrew way in his day. The Celts still kept it the Hebrew way and knew no other way till St Margaret changed some rules by law, while that did not affect all.
Pay attention especially to Monday the 14th of April, as both high holy days of Unleavened bread are non-working days. Therefore you may need to take special care to take time off that day.
This is a time we call the church to remember to do their spring cleaning, which includes removing all leaven out of their homes for passover period. We celebrate the death angel passing over our homes in the world, by the protection of the blood of the Lamb.
A theme we’re studying is also found in the article: EVANGELIZE THE CROSS / CRUCIFIXION, tokens of Christ our Lamb / Sacrifice. Do all that you can to remember and evangelize the Cross. This may include joining with our other Anglican and Orthodox brethren during Lent, so long as you don’t fast on Friday nights or Saturdays! This was central to the Great Schism, the Orthodox said we must always feast on Sabbaths. We have a tradition regarding lent, but it is not strict. Sabbath is a feast for us to enjoy. Orthodox enjoy a plethora of tradition.
In my book are a lot of authoritative quotes on the topic of the Orthodox Church keeping the Hebrew days, as promoted by the Orthodox Church.
Read it for free at: Saturday Rest: Embracing the Christian Sabbath in Orthodox Faith https://celticorthodoxy.com/2015/05/honoring-of-the-sabbath-in-the-historic-orthodox-church/
In it you can read more about the continuation of keeping the feasts and sabbaths in the orthodox church in all generations.
Take care and God Bless you through Christ
