Will Juneteenth ever end? from Dixie Heritage
Washington and Lee University faculty discussed a resolution to remove all references to the Confederacy and Lee from the campus of the liberal arts college in Lexington as well as to the school’s name. No action was taken during the virtual meeting Wednesday evening. But the more than 100 undergraduate and law school professors who attended the meeting plan to send a formal request to the school’s president and its Board of Trustees by the end of the month. The school was named for George Washington, an early benefactor, and Robert E. Lee., the former Confederate general and president of the university who is buried in a chapel at the heart of campus. A petition to W&L President Will Dudley and to the board will be created by the end of the month. Also discussed was to give graduates the option of receiving a diploma without the portraits of Washington and Lee. IN NEARBY RICHMOND Confederate statues along Monument Avenue started coming down. On Wednesday crews removed the Stonewall Jackson statue and Thursday the Matthew Fontaine Maury monument came down. POLITICIANS DO NOT TRUST THE VOTERS The Mississippi State Legislature voted on Sunday to replace its State Flag. The bill passed by a vote of 91-23 in the House and 37-14 in the Senate. Governor Tate Reeves, who on Saturday morning said he would sign the legislation, did so on Tuesday, reversing his prior resistance to changing the Flag. Mississippians will vote on a replacement Flag in the November election. According to the legislation, keeping the current Flag cannot be an option. ALABAMA GOVERNOR ALSO REVERSES COURSE Kay Ivey announced through her press agent that she is open to discussing changing Alabama’s Confederate holidays but said that ultimately, the matter would have to be decided by the Legislature. IN GEORGIA Oz Nesbitt, chairman of the Rockdale County Commission, announced Tuesday that he planned to remove the circa- 1913 monument at on the grounds of the Rockdale County Courthouse 10 p.m. Tuesday. “I’ve made an executive decision to remove the Confederate monument here on the courthouse property in the heart of Olde Town Conyers,” he said in a video on the county’s Facebook page. In other words, Mr. Nesbit is a black man who has taken it upon himself to destroy a monument without consideration of public desire, without legal process, without a vote of the Commission he chairs, and to do it knowing that he is violating a State law that protects the monument. We have asked the Governor to deploy State Police to arrest mr. Nesbitt when he makes good on his threat. We are not holding or breath. ALSO IN GEORGIA Calling a statue in Lawrenceville that honors the Confederacy a “public nuisance,” Gwinnett County’s solicitor has filed a request to have the monument removed from the City’s square. Brian Whiteside, the Gwinnett solicitor general, said in a Tuesday complaint that relocating the monument “will prevent injury and unrest while at the same time protecting and preserving the monument in compliance with — and indeed fulfillment of — Georgia law.” This is an important case because if this petition is granted it will set a precedent that one would think only possible in a bizzaro-opposite alternate universe. i.e., the State's monument protection act could now be used to remove all of the monuments that the act was passed to protect. IN TEXAS Black Lives Matter, having not yet resorted to violence, has started a petition to remove the only Confederate monument in Texas to include women. It is the 1918 monument in downtown Texarkana. According to the petition, the group finds "this symbol is no longer compatible with the values and principles of modern day citizens of Texarkana." GEORGE FLOYD'S UNCLE GOES AFTER FLAG Selwyn Jones, whose sister was george Floyd's mother, is one of a handful of black residents living in the prairie town of Gettysburg, South Dakota. On Monday, he demanded that the City Council change the logo bearing the Confederate Flag that is on city shields and police uniforms. "Bill, we really have the Confederate flag on our police uniforms?" Jones said to Mayor William Wuttke, "Man, that's got to go." The mayor responded with, "We'll see about it." So Jones brought in outside muscle and on Tuesday. Mayor Wuttke has reported that the Police Department is "working on something different," but it's happening against his wishes and against the will of almost everyone in the town of roughly 1,200 who want the outsiders to just get the hell out of their town. Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah My oh my, Disneyland’s iconic Splash Mountain ride based on the 1946 film Song of the South will be rebuilt around the 2009 film The Princess and the Frog, which is set in New Orleans and stars Disney’s first Black princess, Tiana. According to Disney, Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit are racists! PRESIDENT TWEETS AGAINST "STUPIDITY" President Trump blasted Democrats on Monday over a move to strip John Wayne's name from a California airport. He also criticized Princeton University for its Monday decision to rename a memorial to President Woodrow Wilson. MEANWHILE The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps have all issued prohibitions againat display of the Confederate Flag. But that was not good enough for Congress. Members of the House Armed Services unanimously passed an amendment Wednesday to the 2021 defense policy bill that would ban the display of the Confederate battle flag on all Defense Department properties. President Trump is so far maintaining his threat to veto this year's $740 billion annual defense policy bill over a provision passed by the Senate that requires the Department of Defense to rename bases and other military assets named for Confederate leaders. This is considered "must pass" legislation. That is why these measures were attached specifically to it. BASE NAMES HAVE PUBLIC SUPPORT Recent polls show that many more Americans want to keep the names than scrap them. The vast majority of Republicans don't want a change. SLEEPY CREEPY UNCLE JOE ON MONUMENT REMOVAL Former VP Joe Biden on Tuesday said that Confederate memorials and other such offensive or "distasteful" statues should be removed. But he drew the line at figures like George Washington and Christopher Columbus. Those statues should stay.

S Hospitals Lose Bid to Keep Prices Secret The Trump administration won a legal victory yesterday when a U.S. District Court sided against hospital groups that had challenged new rules requiring them to disclose the prices they negotiate with insurers. Those rates have long been considered trade secrets, and critics of the new policy fear the ruling with further strain the already struggling hospital industry. “This may very well be bigger than healthcare itself,” President Trump tweeted. The American Hospital Association says it plans to appeal the decision. California Rules Trucking Must Go Electric Call it “emission” impossible. POLICE ARE AMUSED TO POINT OF LAUGHTER The Miami Herald obtained bodycam footage of the police response to a protest on May 31 through a public records request. “Beat it, little f---er,” an officer can be heard saying after shooting at a protester. Then one officer asked another if his body camera was off, and the second officer incorrectly said it was. “Did you see me f--k up those motherf----rs?” one of the officers says on the video. “I got the one f---er,” the other officer replies, as the two officers laugh. A Fort Lauderdale police officer who was captured on video appearing to push over a kneeling demonstrator during the same protest was charged with battery earlier this week. Fans, batters and even umpires have long known that a good catcher can turn a ball into a strike. In fact, in 2019, 22 MLB pitchers saw more than 50 percent of pitches that should have been balls called strikes, thanks to catchers who mastered the art of framing. But while subtly shifting their bodies to make a ball seem like it’s in the strike zone may fool the human eye, MLB is now testing RoboUmp. U.S. unemployment fell to 11.1% in June as the economy added a solid 4.8 million jobs, the government reported Thursday. But the job-market recovery may already be faltering because of a new round of closings and layoffs triggered by a "resurgence" of the coronavirus. Locking Down And Reopening Repeatedly The Babylon Bee reports a survey of leading physicians who unanimously agreed that the best response to COVID-19 is for the government to lock everything down, then reopen, then lock down again, then reopen again and to just keep doing that until everyone completely loses their minds. "Humanity's will to live is not infinite," said Dr. Fostein of Columbia Medical University. "I'm confident we can crush the collective human spirit into a fine powder with just a few more lockdowns and reopenings." Fostein says that humanity is on track to go into a collective nervous breakdown after several more lockdowns and reopenings, which doctors agree will lead to a new age of compliance. "At that point, we can just strap everybody down, sedate them, and do what needs to be done to get America back on track." Doctors defended the "lockdown-reopen infinite loop" strategy, citing the fact that not everyone listens to absolutely every word they say without question. "We are tired of being questioned," said Dr. Whiltern of Newbury Medical Authority. "Also, watching everybody go nuts is going to be a blast." Most physicians think that the initial stages of mental breakdown have already begun. "People have been losing it quite a bit, sure. Looting, canceling Aunt Jemima, tearing down statues of legit American icons, trying to abolish cops... but this is just the beginning. We can do better. We will do better."
A TRUE STATESMAN NOT A POLITICIAN
Robert Livingston Jr. served as a U.S. Representative from Louisiana from 1977 to 1999. He was chosen as Newt Gingrich's successor as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, a position he declined. During his final years in congress, Livingston was a strong supporter of Bill Clinton's impeachment.
As commander of the various militias during the Revolutionary War, General George Washington served his country without compensation, save for an allowance for certain expenses he incurred. He did this voluntarily, and gladly. When his duties on the field of battle were over he would have been content to retire to his farm at Mt. Vernon, Va. But his countrymen called upon him to continue his service for eight more years. On Thursday, April 30, 1789, Washington was sworn in as the nation's first president. After taking the oath of office, Washington addressed a joint session of Congress assembled inside the Senate chambers. In his address, he stated that he was being called "from a retreat which I had chosen with the fondest predilection." His love for country overrode his desire for a life at home after years of war and strife. However, he again turned down any compensation: "When I was first honored with a call into the service of my country, then on the eve of an arduous struggle for its liberties, the light in which I contemplated my duty required that I should renounce every pecuniary compensation. From this resolution I have in no instance departed; and being still under the impressions which produced it, I must decline as inapplicable to myself any share in the personal emoluments which may be indispensably included in a permanent provision for the executive department, and must accordingly pray that the pecuniary estimates for the station in which I am placed may during my continuance in it be limited to such actual expenditures as the public good may be thought to require." Did you know that an equestrian statue of Washington was on the Great Seal of the Confederacy, and "Washington" was seriously considered as the name of the proposed country? He was revered indeed. Washington always put the Nation first, retiring after two terms because he thought it best for the Nation. He also feared being "charged... with concealed ambition" and the establishment of an imperial Presidency. His farewell address was laced with admonitions to put America first, cherish public credit, use it as sparingly as possible and avoid "occasions of expense by cultivating peace." He also warned, "Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all." For Washington, the reward was in the service. Today it seems those holding elected office view things quite differently. Whether it's a local city councilor, a state legislator or a member of Congress, every waking thought of the elected class seems devoted to compensating from the public treasury one special interest group or another, with the ultimate goal of being rewarded for it down the road, either through some underhanded pay-for-play scheme or with a cushy lobbying gig upon leaving government service. Whoever wins, you lose. Politicians are politicians under any brand. They are paid and pensioned by the District of Corruption. Where do you think that their loyalty lies? The quicker we come to terms with reality about politics in America, and how far it is from the ideals of Washington and the Founding Fathers, the closer we come to serious action to restore freedom of the individual. We are at war with the government and its politicians, but they are the only ones who know it. How many Americans actually know that government hitmen "can arrest, search without a warrant, seize property without cause and not return it when no crime is found, and freeze bank accounts so legal defense can't be hired." All this and they may never charge you with a crime. And now we see they can close your business down, close the courts down, and leave you with no redress and under quasi-martial law via "executive order." We are fully aware that few can grasp the limits of freedom imposed upon Americans. We have been taught "freedom and democracy" so long that we love big brother no matter what. Only a determined mind can read and perceive enough to come close to unraveling this mystery. We are witnessing a military manifestation of power right now. Take note, because it has been bastardized into a racial issue in order to keep us fighting each other so that we do not question the establishment and their political power enforced by the police. Talk about "concealed ambition." As long as the political system is viewed by the American people as having two sides, with one set of people against another, elections will be manipulated and the people will be deceived. This is an absurd front for what Americans believe to be a two-party political system. It covers fraud and helps charlatans and psychopaths cling to power as they wage the real war — them vs us. The government uses its military to attack its own people in order to retain power. Why the sudden need to authorize the U.S. military to operate domestically under the Insurrection act? We can turn the clock back toward human liberty by doing one simple thing: limiting the terms of Representatives and Senators to just two at most, as Washington voluntarily did, with no pensions. Also, they should be subject to the same Social Security limitations and receive the same medical benefits as the American people. There should be no special privileges associated with elected office. Washington expected none. Neither should we.

Will Removing Confederate Symbols Promote Social Peace? Of Course Not.

Will removing Confederate flags, monuments, and names promote social peace or racial healing? How long would a peace based on suppression of a people’s cherished heritage last? How long would a peace built upon suppressing the memory, valor, and virtue of the revered forebears of a great number of the Southern people last? What could possibly be a surer cause of immense strife, bitterness, and economic and political turmoil? Does anyone outside of a madhouse believe that peace and prosperity can be achieved by discarding the heritage of a numerous people to gain the political favor of another? It is more likely to shatter all hope of peace. Can a society set itself against tolerance and mutual respect and have peace? No fair-minded person can accept such corrupt reasoning. I believe we can all be glad that slavery is behind us, but dragging it out year after year to manipulate voters, both black and white, has a strong chance of destroying us. Destroying cherished symbols of Southern and American heritage to placate lawless mobs is not sound judgment. Appeasing one group by disrespecting the heritage of another is not the road to justice. The flames of manipulated hatred do not produce peace but endless insecurity and national destruction. Maj. General Patrick R. Cleburne, CSA, an Irish immigrant, who opposed slavery but found fault with Northern policies that ignored the Constitution and laid harsh and ruinous economic policies on Southern agriculture to enrich Northern manufacturers, warned his men in January 1864 that: “Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late…It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects of derision…It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up, we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.” Henry Carey, Lincoln’s Chief Economist, promoter of the “American System” of Developmental Capitalism and Government Intervention, in a letter to House Speaker Schuyler Colfax in March 1865, wrote: ”To British Free-Trade it is, as I have shown, that we stand indebted for the present Civil War.” The British pretty much saw right through the phony Northern claim to moral superiority. This was summarized by famous English author, Charles Dickens, an opponent of slavery: “The Northern onslaught upon slavery is no more than a piece of specious humbug designed to conceal its desire for economic control of the Southern states.” Slavery was an issue but not in the moral sense most people have been made to believe. Northern armies did not march south to free slaves. The 1860 Lincoln and Republican election campaign clearly indicated that Tariff issues were the most important. The slavery issue was second and was simply to limit slavery to the South. This will be shocking to those who only know enough about the war for phony political virtue-signaling, but many Northern State laws (especially Illinois) strongly discouraged bringing blacks into their states. Much of this was just a natural law of labor economics. American workers do not like to see their jobs taken or wages suppressed by cheap foreign or slave labor. The religious division between North and South was also much more important than people realize. It was related to the slavery issue, but more importantly, Southern clergy and congregations strongly believed that the Northern churches were fast falling away from the infallible truths of the Bible and were being taken over by anti-Biblical isms, replacing Biblical truth and values with purely human wisdom and politicized “higher” values. The right of State secession was built into our Declaration of Independence. The Revolutionary War was a secession of 13 American colonies from British rule. Both Southern, British, and many Northern leaders saw the clear analogy. The right of secession was taught at West Point. Even Lincoln agreed in 1848. Two days before Lincoln’s election in November 1860, the Charleston Mercury summed up Southern feeling: “The real causes of dissatisfaction in the South with the North are in the unjust taxation and expenditure of the taxes by the Government of the United States, and the revolution the North has effected in this government, from a confederated republic, to a national sectional despotism.” President Woodrow Wilson, in his multi-volume History of the American People, offered this explanation as to why the issue of slavery was so exaggerated during and after the war: “It was necessary to put the South at a moral disadvantage by transforming the contest from a war waged against states fighting for their independence into a war waged against states fighting for the maintenance and extension of slavery.” Removing Confederate symbols does not meet four basic ethics rules. It is not based on the truth. It is based on many years of slanderous propaganda, agitation, and racial political pandering. Is it fair to all concerned? No, it is a distribution of political spoils based on mendacious agitation and bullying. Americans reject the monstrous concepts of punitive collective justice and inherited guilt as unfair and socially destructive. Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Do misrepresenting, slandering, and degrading the Confederate cause, Confederate soldiers, and their descendents create goodwill and solid friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? It would probably benefit only those who seek power, money, and fame by unconscionable means, promoting and excusing lies, hatred, spite, and vengeance. Stepping on somebody else’s heritage is never the way to peace and seldom the road to lasting prosperity. Furthermore, it is an extremely dangerous precedent with a high probability of multiplying enormous unanticipated regrettable consequences. Crushing and bullying is the way of the Marxist Left and those who build their houses on sand. I find it remarkable how many political, media, business, academic, and religious leaders respond to tragedy or bullying by powerful special interest agitators with unfounded and hysterical condemnations of long-honored traditions and institutions. Moreover, I find it disturbing that such condemnations and proclamations are increasingly made without a lick of serious homework on the issues involved. In this hysterical state, truth and logical reasoning seem always to be trumped by shaky emotional perceptions. Emotional anecdotes dominate all communications, and facts and statistics are ignored. Little thought is given to logical primary or secondary consequences or the possibility of serious insult and injustices resulting from hurried emotional decisions. Political Correctness always reminds me of the hysteria surrounding the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, where innocent people were executed on the basis of visions or dreams of their accusers. Many were condemned to death because an accuser had testified to seeing the “specter’ of the accused doing harm or witchcraft. Hysterical young girls pointed a finger at whoever they claimed was a witch, and it was taken as credible evidence. Many of the accused were tortured until they confessed to witchcraft. For much of 1692, lies ruled in Salem. Historical perspective later showed that many of the 19 alleged witches hanged and one tortured to death in Salem were not only innocent but among the most godly in the community. A substantial number of the accusers had unsavory reputations or were suffering acute mental illness. Other analysis indicates that envy and long-standing grudges in Salem society played an important role in this tragic miscarriage of justice. What has Salem in 1692 got to do with Washington or Minneapolis? Politically correct lies and moral cowardice seldom result in just government and often result in totalitarian government. In our modern culture, the lies usually come as politically correct falsehoods that must be embraced as “truth” to avoid social condemnation and its likely economic penalties. Those who strive hard to meet the truth-conflicting standards of political correctness are especially prone to hysterical condemnation of the innocent. The scapegoat is condemned to avoid offending the sacred cow, which is often an important but false historical narrative. “Civil War” history has always suffered from a high dose of Union propaganda about the causes of the war, but the current dominance of cultural Marxism (political correctness) in American history and especially the “Civil War” has served to hinder any profitable discussion of many important and easily substantiated truths that strongly contradict the politically correct narrative. The Reverend James Power Smith, the last surviving member of Stonewall Jackson’s staff had this to say in 1907: “No cowardice on any battlefield could be as base and shameful as the silent acquiescence in the scheme which was teaching the children in their homes and schools that the commercial value of slavery was the cause of the war, that prisoners of war held in the South were starved and treated with barbarous inhumanity, that Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee were traitors to their country and false to their oaths, that the young men who left everything to resist invasion, and climbed the slopes of Gettysburg and died willingly on a hundred fields were rebels against a righteous government.” This was also addressed by Reverend Robert L. Dabney at the Annual Commencement address delivered on June 15, 1882, at Hampden Sidney College in Virginia. It was entitled “The New South.” Dabney was one of the most prominent theologians, scholars, and social and political commentators of his era, who had served as a Confederate Chaplain and as Stonewall Jackson’s Chief of Staff during the war: “It behooves the New South, in dismissing the animosities of the past, to see to it that they retain all that was true in its principles or ennobling in its example. There are those pretending to belong to this company who exclaim: ‘Let us bury the dead past. Its issues are all antiquated, and of no more practical significance. Let us forget the passions of the past. We are in a new world. Its new questions alone concern us.’ I rejoin: Be sure that the former issues are dead before you really bury them! There are issues that cannot die without the death of the people, of their honor, their civilization and their greatness. Take care that you do not bury too much, while burying the dead past: that you do not bury the inspiring memories of great patriots, whose actions, whether successful or not, are the eternal glory of your race and section; the influence of their virtues, the guiding precedents of their histories. Will you bury the names and memories of a Jackson and Lee, and their noble army of martyrs? Will you bury true history whose years are those of the God of Truth?” We now live in an age where unfashionable truths, reason, and plain common sense are powerfully suppressed by vicious forms of political correctness and economic coercion. Orchestrated lies permeate and contaminate academia, the media—lately even Fox--and the internet, manipulating or burying even the facts of history. Manipulated mobs exalt demagogic nonsense and shun reality and clear thinking. Whom the gods would destroy, they first make “woke.” Evil is called good and good evil. Dabney closed his 1882 speech at Hamden Sidney with: “Even if the memory of the defeated had no rights; if historical truth had no prerogatives; if it were the same to you that the sires whose blood fills your veins, and whose names you bear, be written down as traitors by the pen of slanderous history, still it is essential to your own future that you shall learn the history of the past truly.” Those who advance their cause by injuring the heritage of others build their house on sand.
THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM Juggling Apples and Oranges - A discussion of the most obvious terms behind this Covid business and how people are being duped by conflating them.
Dr. Jerry Smith is a bi-vocational pastor-teacher, chaplain, college professor (secular), writer, and author. He is also a combat veteran. Dr. Smith has been a long-term subscriber to Dixie Heritage.
Perhaps many readers have heard the expression, “the elephant in the room.” The lesson from the story is that although there’s an elephant in the room, people don’t see it because it’s so big—they’re more focused on the details instead of the big picture. Another explanation is that it’s something obvious, but uncomfortable for people to acknowledge, so they simply ignore this massive creature standing right in front of them. Whatever your take on the expression is, something similar is happening with us regarding the “Covid-19” and “coronavirus” issue on a global scale. The two terms are being conflated. And for me, it’s the most obvious issue in this whole “pandemic.” From the very onset, I’ve observed it go from reports of “Covid-19” to “coronavirus,” until the two terms were used synonymously in the media. But they’re not synonymous terms. And, a large population of the world is being misled by conflated statistics, drawn into fear, and even panic on a global scale. I’ve done my own research. The actuality is that, like the elephant, the information is blatantly in front of our faces if we will simply examine it. If you have a look at pretty much any authentic and reliable medical dictionary online, you’ll discover that the coronavirus has many forms (e.g. SARS, MERS, H1N1, other types of common flu, etc.). Covid-19 is only one of them. In this context, I compare it to fruit. Let me explain using the table below. Table 1 The Reality Types of Fruit Types of Coronavirus Apples SARS-CoV Bananas SARS-CoV-2 Oranges MERS-CoV Grapes H1N1 Mangoes HKU1 (beta coronavirus) Watermelons Different types of “common” flu* *People around the world commonly get infected with human coronaviruses 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1 (Source: Center for Disease Control and Prevention, “coronavirus,” https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/types.html). The category of fruit has many subcategories. For example, bananas are fruit, oranges are fruit, apples, pears, tangerines, etc. You get the idea. The term, coronavirus, is a category of virus, like fruit, with various subcategories: SARS, MERS, 229E, HKU1,(there are many of them), plus different strains of common human flu. Most people in the world have been infected by a form of coronavirus at some point. Perhaps most honest doctors will tell you that. Therefore, most people naturally test positive for residual DNA from coronavirus tests. Our bodies have defeated the virus yet there are still small amounts of it in our bodies. If there is a single entity behind this “pandemic,” it/they picked the perfect illness, because most people will test positive for the coronavirus. Let me repeat that—most people in the world will test positive for coronavirus. Why? Because most people in the world have suffered a cold or flu at some point in their lives. Bear in mind that tests cannot tell you which type of coronavirus you have, unless they are highly specialized tests, if any are out there (I could be wrong). But the common, average, mass-produced tests—the ones used to boost the numbers—can only tell us positive or negative for DNA present in our bodies from “a” coronavirus. They cannot tell us if it is Covid-19 or not. It’s a great way to boost the numbers for Covid-19, because if the two terms (coronavirus and Covid-19) can be viewed as synonymous, large numbers can be used to manipulate statistics, and a pandemic ensues. So, people with runny noses, sniffles, coughs, sneezing, or other cold/flu-like symptoms are automatically labeled Covid-19 positive. Even those who exhibit no symptoms (asymptomatic) are labeled Covid-19 positive. Why? Because it’s assumed people have Covid-19, yet unproven. Because it is the trend, but not based on hardcore evidence from tests. In fact, it would be an interesting study to see how many recorded cases of common flu have decreased and given place to alarming numbers of Covid-19; a very convenient virus for statistical purposes, this coronavirus is. We are constantly hearing about the numbers going up (or down). Well, of course they do. We are human—we get sick and we get better. A conversation I had with one “frontline” doctor in a “hotspot” hospital not very long ago helped me understand this conflation more clearly. He said that his hospital was overwhelmed with coronavirus patients. When I asked him if it was Covid-19 or coronavirus, he said they were the same. I disagreed and explained that coronavirus is a category and Covid-19 is only one of many types. He had to agree (or perhaps be seen as an incompetent doctor). He then changed his answer to “coronavirus”—meaning, the patients in the overrun hospital were not Covid-19 patients, but “coronavirus” patients. I suspected this is the same in hospitals all over the world, so I asked why hospitals, knowing the difference, treat positive-for-coronavirus patients as Covid-19 patients. He said because it is the trend right now; because we are in a pandemic. So, the cart is before the horse, all fruit are called oranges, and the elephant sits in the room juggling apples and oranges. Meanwhile, people are believing it. The table below will help illustrate the faulty logic. Table 2 The Faulty Logic Oranges Covid-19 All fruit are oranges. All coronaviruses are Covid-19. All bananas are oranges. All cases of SARS-CoV are Covid-19 All apples are oranges. All cases of SARS-CoV-2 are Covid-19 All pears are oranges. All cases of MERS-CoV are Covid-19 All mangoes are oranges. All cases of H1N1 are Covid-19 All watermelons are oranges. All colds and flu are Covid-19. Do you see the elephant in the room? It’s juggling apples and oranges too. The general public is being misled. The fix is in. And it’s happening right in front of our faces. Perhaps there are some honest doctors out there scratching their heads that might feel alone in speaking up. Hopefully, some readers will get motivated and shine the light in the darkness (cf. Ephesians 5:11). It would also be worth investigating how many real cases of heart conditions, cancer-related deaths, flu, dengue, tuberculosis, and other illnesses have decreased while Covid-19 has increased. But, that’s another article, and a challenge thrown out to research-savvy medical personnel. Look at the elephant in the room. It’s juggling the apples and oranges but we don’t see anything. It’s right in front of our faces and has been since the beginning. Meanwhile, we’re being compelled to fear because of massive numbers and flawed statistics, when the truth is obvious, we just don’t see it. But, the greater threat to our lives, our basic human rights, our economy, and our well-being, is the fear created by this conflation of terms.
TOO LITTLE TOO LATE

Just noticed this morning an article about how the National Guard is being mobilized to protect statues in Washington D. C. and in Wisconsin. In Washington some leftist protesters tried, unsuccessfully, to topple a stature of Andrew Jackson and in Wisconsin I guess they managed to pull down a statue of some abolitionist. At least that’s they way I heard it. For weeks now they have been pulling down statues of any historical personage who happened to have white skin, not just Confederates but others as well. Even some who opposed slavery have had their monuments trashed. I haven’t heard anything more about those statues of Marx and Lenin in Oregon and Washington. How much you want to bet they are still up? Even a statue of Ulysses S. Grant was torn down, although Grant had been a slave owner and had refused to free his slaves until forced to do so by the 13th Amendment. His contention for waiting so long to turn loose of his slaves was “good help is hard to find.” I also heard that President Trump issued an executive order protecting monuments, at least monuments of veterans, and I am all for that, but I am beginning to wonder why it took so long to get around to doing this. Now that statues for Yankees and abolitionists are being torn down, suddenly we see a need to stop this madness. What about when Confederate statues and monuments were being torn down and toppled? And if we are going to protect statues of veterans, how many of those men who ended up being Confederates had been in the Union army before Lincoln became the federal dictator, or maybe it was Stanton who was the federal dictator and Lincoln only the willing accomplice. How many Confederate statues ended up being destroyed and no one said much of anything? Now that the abolitionist statues are being town down suddenly we need to halt all this because suddenly, we are destroying the wrong history! And you can hardly expect the mindless Marxists who are destroying all the statues to differentiate between them. All they know is “If he’s white, pull him down.” They wouldn’t know an abolitionist from a bull frog! I wonder if the few remaining Confederate statues and monuments that are still up someplace will be protected by this new ban that seems to me to almost be too little too late.
The Old Camp Meeting Time continues to air on missionary-operated radio stations in Central America, Africa, and The Philippines.

FROM THE EDITOR'S DESK
Dr. Ed is a pastor, college president, historian, the author of over 30 books, an in-demand public speaker, and the host of three radio shows. He is an active lobbyist, tirelessly petitioning city, county, state, and federal officials on behalf of our Southern monuments and heritage. He started Dixie Heritage in March of 2015.
People who said, tearing down Confederate Statues was only the beginning a few years ago were mocked as "culture warriors,” i.e., "racists" clinging to the past. But a failure to acknowledge the true motive people of the real motives of these vandals has us in a place where no statue in America is safe. Tuesday night in Portland, rioters tore down a statue of an elk. An elk. Is this how we end racism? Last week, in my column, I said that on the night of Juneteenth, the unthinkable happened because we thought that the one statue that was never coming down was that of General Albert Pike. But what we've found out is that bureaucracy is no match for a violent mob. The statue of Pike is one of 19 Confederate statues in the D.C. metro area. It is also the one monument that, in all of our lobbying efforts at Dixie Heritage, we simply paid little attention to. Why? Because we had been assured that it is literally the last "Confederate" monument that will ever be taken down. Not that people were not trying to remove it. Many have. For example Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C.'s delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives has introduced multiple bills seeking the statue's removal. Each time she quickly discovers just how many Masons are in the government and its attending bureaucracies. What delegate Norton discovered, and why we have never believed the monument to have ever been in any real danger, is that the nearly 30-foot structure with an 11-foot bronze cast of Pike sets on Federal land whose use was never actually authorized for the monument. In 1901, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry erected the monument to its most beloved leader and that act was never challenged. The monument, which depicts the Masonic leader, not in his Confederate uniform, but in the clothing of a civilian, is actually a Masonic monument. Its not a "Confederate" monument at all. But what are "details" to an angry mob? Anyway, to whom was the President referring when he said that they were a disgrace to the country and should be arrested? Was he referring to the angry mob? Or to the officers of the Metro Police who facilitated their crimes? Hopefully, he was referring to both! That said, the angry mob was just doing what angry mobs do. The Police on the other hand..... Disgrace? YES! Arrests? Don't hold your breath! But I guess there were no Masons amongst the Metro Police that night. If there had been I bet the outcome might have been different. Because the Pike statue, to the Masons within our Federal government, is a shrine. Masons revere the Pike statue even more than Catholics do statues of the Virgin Mary. That is why the removal of the Pike statue was never going to happen - at least not by proper and official means anyway. To an angry mob on the other hand...nothing is sacred. And that seems to be the "new normal" in America. "Oh, beautiful, for patriot's dream," has become the patriot's nightmare. My prayer is that the angry mobs burning our cities and all that was once sacred within them will do what all angry mobs eventually do - turn upon themselves. For the sake of all that is still sacred, may they do it sooner rather than later! God will Vindicate! Chaplain Ed
